How to simulate Nothing from a deep link

Hello-

I'm working on an app that will create an HTTP connection to the SSRS server to gather a PDF generated by SSRS and place it on the LAN. looks something like this :

http://server/ReportServer?%2fDEV%2frpt_Sheet&rs%3aCommand=Render&rc:Toolbar=false&userID=NULL&StoreID=23&rs:Format=PDF

We have a few reports where 1 or more parameters can be null, but I'm having one heck of a time trying get this to work with a null value. Does anyone know what value is actually passed to SSRS when a parameter is NULL?

I have tried Nothing, but to no avail.

Thanks in adavance,

Tristan

Do not include that parameter in the link and set its default value as null or send something like this:

parameter name = "param1"

&param1%3aisnull=True

http://reportserver/?%2fReport1Test&param1%3aisnull=True&rs%3aParameterLanguage=&rc%3aParameters=Collapsed

How to setup Link Server properly

Hi,

I want to access another database seating on another server so I configured the Linked server with SQL Server as the server type. I set the security as NT_AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and checked the Impersonate. In Server Options, I set the RPC Out to true then I clicked ok.

I got this error:

An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)

The OLE DB Provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "server1" reported an error. Authentication failed.

Cannot initialize the datasource object of OLE DB Provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "server1".

OLE DB Provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "server1" returned message "Invalid authorization specification". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7399)

Note that my NT login is added as "Administrators" on the Server i want to connect to.

Have I missed anything?

cherriesh

I tend to use sp_addlinkedserver and sp_addlinkedsrvlogin for this.

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190479.aspx

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189811.aspx

The trick is to specify 'true' for @.useself for sp_addlinkedsrvlogin.

e.g.

Code Snippet

exec sp_addlinkedsrvlogin 'remotesrv', 'true'

how to set SQL Server OLE DB provider index option , It gives error ?

All ,

I have created link server and i want to set all appropriate Setting for the Provider option

Provider used : - Microsoft OLE DB provider for SQL server
After setting “Index as Access Path” check box to true I have encountered
Following error

Server: Msg 7319, Level 16, State 1, Procedure Jobs, Line 2OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' returned a 'NON-CLUSTERED and NOT INTEGRATED' index 'IX_T_Jobs' with incorrect bookmark ordinal 0.OLE DB error trace [Non-interface error: OLE/DB provider returned an invalid bookmark ordinal from the index rowset.].

Note :- Remote Query Icon Show 98%

Please let me know how to fix the problem and how to make sure distributed query Uses the proper index on remote Link server

Regards,
RahulB

microsoft ole db provider for sql server is not an index provider. it won't be able use index as access path from the remote sql server.

|||

I am facing the same issue. However, i don't much care which index on the oracle box a query uses...i just want the data. How do i avoid this error?

To test things, i took the table on oracle that was generating this error and duplicated it (with data) but without any indexes, and the data returns successfully.

Obviously the idea of removing indexes from oracle tables so the SQL Server can link-server connect to them is not reasonable. My method of connection is the 4-part method. Open query works even on the table...but i don't want to be forced to use that technique.

Here are the two queries...(Query 1 fails, Query 2 works):

1. SELECT * FROM ORCLPAO..SERVICE.BI_EVENT
2. SELECT TOP 10 * FROM OPENQUERY (orclpao, 'select * from service.bi_event')

Query 1 generates this error:

Server: Msg 7319, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'MSDAORA' returned a 'NON-CLUSTERED and NOT INTEGRATED' index 'EVENT_APTNUM_XS' with incorrect bookmark ordinal 0.
OLE DB error trace [Non-interface error: OLE/DB provider returned an invalid bookmark ordinal from the index rowset.].

How to set an action?

Hi,
I want to link to a website (like www.google.com) when user click any cell in cube browser.

Then I set an action, the setting detail as following:
Target Type: Cells
Target Object: All Cells
Action Content Type: URL
Action expression: www.google.com

But it's not work fine. When I click any cell in cube browse there is an error message.

Is any problem in my setting detail? especially Action expression?

thanks,You should put double quotes around literal srings in the action expression, so:

"www.google.com"|||Thanks. I add double quotes to it. There is no error message.

But I click the cell, there is no response.
I thought the action would be open a browser and link to google.
Why the action is no any response?|||Try the full URL: "http://www.google.com", because certain safety options can block browsing if the URL doesn't start with "http://" or "https://"

How to set a link whitch opens the record in an new Window

Hello NG,
I have to link to a SharePoint Document library out of the Report. But the
Library opens in the Report Window and not in an new Window.
How can I set the Link in Reporting Services that the Library will open in a
new Window?
Thanks
ThomasThis is for a regular report (not SharePoint) but hopefully it will put you
in the right direction. You need RS 2000 SP1 or greater (which hopefully is
everybody at this point).
="javascript:void(window.open('" & Globals!ReportServerUrl &
"?/SomeFolder/SomeReport&ParamName=" & Parameters!ParamName.Value &
"','_blank'))"
Couple of things to notice. First, I use the Globals!ReportServerURL so I do
not hard code the server name. Second, be careful with the single and double
quotes.
Note that the Jump to URL action is used for this.

I try it many times, but it wont work. The Report doesn't identify it as a
Link.
I build it like this.
="javascript:void(window.open('http://serveradress&"/"&Fields!new_wss_id.Value.ToString()&"/"default.aspx"+"'))"
But there must be an Mistake in it. Have I forgot something?
Thanks

If I take the middle of this link

Maybe its because of the Internet Options?

As I mentioned previously, I do not know about sharepoint integration.
However, I don't think it will make any difference.
Do the following, put what I have below in the jump to URL action and make
sure this works as advertised. This pulls up the google page in another
window:
